Weighted Grade Calculator
Calculate your course grade with relative weights or category weights. Optionally drop the lowest N scores per category — a key differentiator vs simple weighted tools.
Assignments
Score as a percentage (0–100). Weights are relative — they need not sum to 100.
Categories
How it works
- Choose simple weights or categories with optional drop-lowest.
- Enter scores as percentages. In category mode, enter each item’s score % (or leave blank rows unused).
- Overall = Σ(score × weight) / Σ(weight). Categories: average remaining scores, then apply category weights.
- Copy a share link or export CSV. Data stays in your browser (localStorage).
FAQ
How does the weighted grade calculator work?
In simple mode, your overall grade is the sum of (score × weight) divided by the sum of weights. Weights are relative — they do not need to add to 100. In category mode, each category is averaged first (after optional drop-lowest), then those averages are combined using category weights that should total 100.
What does drop lowest mean?
Within a category, GradeKite sorts that category’s percentage scores ascending and removes the N lowest before averaging. At least one score is always kept if any scores exist. Document this rule when comparing with your syllabus — some LMS products drop by points instead of percentage.
Do I need to name every assignment?
No. Names are optional and stored locally for your convenience. Share links encode numbers first and omit names to stay compact.
Is my data uploaded?
No. State is saved in localStorage (key gradecalc:v1) in your browser. Optional share links put a compact hash in the URL; the hash is stripped from the address bar after load.
